Housing Benefit is a benefit to help pay toward rent and some charges related to this cost, based on low income and capital. Payable to some people who already receive this benefit and remain eligible for this. New claims can only be made by people who have reached State Pension age or people in certain types of accommodation. Other people may be able to claim on Universal Credit for an element toward their housing costs. Seek advice from EA Money, Citizens Advice or the East Ayrshire Universal Credit Support Team.
