Scotland’s Child Disability Payment opens for new applications across Scotland from 22 November 2021. Following a pilot of this benefit in other areas of Scotland; it will now come in to general operation and it replaces the UK Government’s Disability Living Allowance for children.

Any new claims from 22/11/21, for children with a Scottish postcode, will be for Child Disability Payment.

Existing claims of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children aged 15-17yrs will gradually transfer over to Child Disability Payment by spring 2022.  The remainder of claims are expected to transfer by spring 2023.

Parents/Carers will be contacted at the time when this transfer process will be carried out for their child.  You will not need to re-apply and payments will remain the same during transfer.  Your payments will then be from Social Security Scotland instead of the Department for Work and Pensions.
