Disability Benefits

Includes Child Disability Payment, Adult Disability Payment, Scottish Disability Living Allowance, and Pension Age Disability Payment.

Adult Disability Payment

For people in Scotland age 16 until retirement pension age, making a new disability benefit claim in Ayrshire from 25 July 2022. This replaced the UK Government Personal Independence Payment.

Child Disability Payment

Scotland’s Child Disability Payment opens for new applications across Scotland from 22 November 2021 it replaces the UK Government’s Disability Living Allowance for children.

Child Winter Heating Assistance

An automatic annual payment where a child/young person has a ‘qualifying’ disability benefit.

Disability Living Allowance For Children

As of 22 November 2021 new disability benefit claims in Scotland are made for Child Disability Payment . Existing awards will transfer to Child Disability Payment in Scotland.

Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

If you became ill or are disabled because of an accident or disease at work, or on approved employment training/course.

Pension Age Disability Payment

For people in Scotland who are pension age and making a new disability benefit claim. This benefit replaces the UK Government Attendance Allowance.

Personal Independence Payment

For people aged 16 until pension age who have physical and/or mental health difficulties. From 25 July 2022 new claimants in Ayrshire now apply for Adult Disability Payment

Scottish Adult Disability Allowance

For people in Scotland who have not moved onto Adult Disability payment when being transferred from the Department for Work and Pensions benefit, Disability Living Allowance.
