Disability Living Allowance for adults was being replaced by Personal Independence Payment for new disability benefit claimants aged 16 and over, but who had not yet reached state pension age. However, a new benefit is being introduced by Social Security Scotland. It is called Adult Disability Payment.

For new claimants age 16 and over, who have not yet reached state pension age this benefit opens in Ayrshire for new applications on 25 July 2022. If live in Scotland and your Disability Living Allowance Award is renewing or due to end, or you report a change in your health then you will transfer to the new Adult Disability Payment for assessment.

If you were born on or after 8 April 1948 on Disability Living Allowance

If you were born on or after 8 April 1948, and you already have an award, you’ll continue to get Disability Living Allowance at this time, but your benefit will transfer between summer 2022 and summer 2025 to Adult Disability Payment.

If you were born before 8 April 1948 on Disability Living Allowance

If your award is not ending or being reviewed through a reported change, and you were born before 8 April 1948, you’ll continue to be paid Disability Living Allowance at this time. Your benefit will move at a later date to Adult Disability Payment. If you are applying for disability benefit the first time and have reached state pension age – see Attendance Allowance.
